Datalogger Orientation & Signal Strength: Why does the orientation of my Wavelogix datalogger matter?

Antenna Alignment & Signal Polarization

Your device’s antenna communicates with nearby cellular towers. Some cell towers transmit vertically polarized radio signals, meaning the signal’s electric field oscillates vertically.
If your datalogger is positioned flat on its back, its antenna becomes horizontally polarized — creating a polarization mismatch that weakens reception. When the device is standing upright (perpendicular to the ground), the antenna’s orientation matches the tower’s polarization, resulting in maximum signal strength and reliability.
